Australian Parliament House, also translated as the Australian Federal Parliament House, is located in Canberra, the capital territory of Australia. Construction began in 1981, and it was officially opened on May 9, 1988, by Queen Elizabeth II. At the time of its construction, it was the most expensive man-made building in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Australian Parliament House is the core of Australia’s executive and legislative powers, as well as a magnificent integration of architectural art, crafts, and decorative arts. The floor plan of the building is in the shape of an X, with the intersection point being the Members’ Hall under the glass dome on the top sixth floor, and the two wings housing the House of Representatives and the Senate. The building covers an area of 250,000 square meters. Its exterior architectural features include twin boomerangs and a massive flagpole at the top, which is 81 meters long. Inside, the structure boasts deep hallways, spacious chambers, and a total of 4,700 rooms, many of which are open to the public. These rooms are elegantly decorated, clean, and bright, with staircases and banisters all made of white marble. The Senate chamber is decorated in a deep ochre red, while the House of Representatives features the green color of Australia’s abundant eucalyptus leaves. Various halls and corridors display and hang extremely classic works of art.

The surroundings of the Australian Parliament House are shaded by lush trees, and the building’s wings feature colorful courtyards and fountains, creating a wonderful harmony between architecture and environment, people and nature, politics and society.
