The Acropolis Museum was established on the site of the ancient remains of the Acropolis in Athens. Its construction began in 2003, was completed in 2007, and the opening ceremony was held on June 20, 2009. The museum covers an area of over 25,000 square meters, with an exhibition space of 14,000 square meters. The museum is supported by more than 100 concrete pillars as foundational columns, suspended above the original archaeological ruins. The Acropolis Museum has a very prominent modern feel, with both the floor and the outer walls made of glass. While admiring the precious artifacts inside the museum, visitors can also gaze through the glass windows to see the nearby Parthenon.

The entrance and the first-floor floor of the Acropolis Museum make extensive use of glass as a material. This means that as visitors approach the new Acropolis Museum, they can look down and see the shops, workshops, baths, courtyards, and pathways from antiquity laid out before them. The museum’s collection includes over 4,000 items, such as a large number of reliefs, sculptures, and historical relics, preserving numerous world cultural heritage pieces. These include sculptures, ceramics, bronzes, and ancient coins from various periods ranging from prehistoric times to Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. The Acropolis Museum has five permanent exhibition areas: the ruins of residential areas, the Temple of Athena Nike and related ruins, the Parthenon and related ruins, the Propylaea, the Erechtheion, and the Temple of Athena Nike and related ruins, as well as ancient Greek and Roman related sites. Visitors to the museum are sure to find the experience worthwhile.
