Casuarina Coastal Reserve is located in the northern suburbs of Darwin, Northern Territory, and was established to protect marine areas and culturally significant sites. These include long stretches of sandy beaches, extensive casuarina woodlands, spectacular coastal cliffs, and Aboriginal heritage sites.

The reserve offers a serene and scenic environment, with pristine white beaches stretching behind mangrove forests, lush rainforests, and verdant woodlands. The iconic "Old Man Rock" within the reserve is a documented sacred Aboriginal site and is considered inviolable. Visitors can enjoy picnicking, barbecuing, fishing, swimming, walking, wildlife watching, and exploring sacred Indigenous heritage sites. Please note that it is prohibited to remove shells from the beach, and swimming is not allowed from April to October each year due to the presence of jellyfish that can pose a risk to swimmers. The reserve is home to a wide variety of animals and marine life with diverse habitats, as well as rare birds that are a delight to observe, including ospreys, white-bellied sea eagles, cormorants, and seagulls.
