The Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, located near the Brisbane River in Queensland, opened in 1855 as the city’s first botanic garden. Its history dates back to 1828, making it over 180 years old.

Spanning 20 hectares, the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens features an array of rare and unusual plant species, earning recognition from the Queensland Heritage Centre as “Queensland’s most outstanding non-Indigenous cultural landscape.” Among its highlights are cycads, palms, fig trees, and bamboo.

In addition to serving its primary function as a botanical garden, the site fulfills other roles. Office workers from nearby business districts often come here during lunch breaks to read books and newspapers or relax on the lush green lawns, making it an ideal spot for professionals to unwind and de-stress. Moreover, it’s also one of the best venues for weddings. On weekends, visitors can witness couples exchanging vows in warm, romantic ceremonies.
