Lunnan Oilfield
Since the discovery of oil at Well Lunan No. 2 in 1988, the Tarim Oilfield Campaign was subsequently launched. On April 10, 1989, the Tarim Petroleum Exploration and Development Headquarters was established. The development of the Lunnan Oilfield officially commenced, and by 1995, four oilfields had been discovered in the Lunnan area: namely, the Lunnan Oilfield, Santamu Oilfield, Jiefangqu East Oilfield, and Jilake Oilfield. A total of approximately 100 exploration wells and production wells were drilled across these four oilfields, yielding an annual output of about 1 million tons, which has remained stable for over a decade to date. In recent years, the Lungu block has been added, with more than 10 exploration wells drilled. Since 1990, Lunnan has built a joint station capable of processing 3 million tons of crude oil annually, three different types of gathering and transportation stations, a light hydrocarbon treatment station with a daily capacity of 400,000 cubic meters, a gas-fired power plant, as well as an initial oil transmission station to Shanshan and an initial gas transmission station to Korla. Lunnan enjoys well-connected transportation, with the starting point of the Desert Highway located here, leading west to the Donghetang Oilfield in Kuqa County and the Tahe Oilfield of the Northwest Oilfield Bureau, north via two roads to National Highway 314, and east along a pipeline access road to Korla.
Currently, Lunnan has become a key logistics hub and transportation artery for the petroleum exploration and development of the Tarim Basin. The national key project “West-East Gas Pipeline” starts from Lunnan Town, transporting natural gas from the Tarim Basin eastward.
Passing through seven provinces (regions) to reach Shanghai. The Lunnan Oilfield has become a focal point of attention both nationally and globally.
