Located 50 kilometers along the road from Korla to Yingpan, this is a military facility from the Han Dynasty. Due to years of weathering, only 10 meters of its original height remain. The area of today’s Beishan shortcut was once part of the northern route of the ancient Silk Road. After 101 BC, the Western Han Dynasty built a total of 300 beacon towers from Dunhuang through the Lop Nur to Kucha (Kuqa), serving to secure the ancient Silk Road, provide convenience for travelers, and transmit information.
