Tablet Commemorating the Pacification of the Dzungar

The Tablet Commemorating the Pacification of the Dzungar is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Tablet Commemorating the Pacification of the Dzungar is located on Gedeng Mountain, 60 kilometers southwest of Zhaosu County in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The two sides of the tablet’s base are carved with an image of a rising sun emerging from endless blue waves. The body of the tablet bears inscriptions in four languages vertically engraved in intaglio on both sides: the front features Manchu and Chinese, while the back has Mongolian and Tibetan. The Chinese inscription consists of eight lines totaling 240 characters, written in a rhymed four-character style. It was personally composed by Emperor Qianlong and recounts the historical events of the 20th year of Qianlong’s reign (1756), when Qing forces pacified the Dzungar rebels on Gedeng Mountain. The rebel leader Dawachi fled to southern Xinjiang but was eventually captured by Aqim Duijisiboke of the Uqturpan Hui people and handed over to the Qing court. The inscription praises the heroic spirit of the warriors who fought in the Battle of Gedeng Mountain.
