After crossing the He Cang Bridge and driving a short distance along the mountain road of He Cang Gorge, you’ll arrive at the entrance to the waterfall valley. Park your vehicle, step out, and follow the path on the east side of the stream, ascending northward via the stone steps along the river. Enter a serene valley fragrant with wild strawberries, blooming with vibrant flowers, and covered in dense forests. After walking about 40 meters, you’ll come to the base of a deep pool. There, nestled within the quiet forest and secluded valley, atop steep cliffs, a stream cascades down from the sky, spanning 3–4 meters in width and dropping over 30 meters in height. The water curtain plunges off the cliff, with droplets splashing in all directions and the roaring sound echoing like thunder. A cool mist envelops the surroundings, creating a scene both poetic and picturesque, truly breathtaking. As you stand facing it, you can’t help but recall the famous poetic line, “Its torrent dashes down three thousand feet from high / As if the Silver River fell from the blue sky.” The vivid imagery instantly makes you feel as though you’re right there in the moment. This is the world-renowned He Cang Gorge Waterfall. Since the valley is home to a variety of wild fruits and fresh mountain delicacies, locals often jokingly refer to it as the “Flower-Fruit Mountain Water Curtain Cave.” During the peak of winter, when the waterfall freezes over and icicles hang like peaks and mountains, with the flowing curtain encased within, the sight becomes dreamlike and fantastical.
