Snow Spruce Nature Reserve

The Snow Spruce Nature Reserve is located about 60 kilometers southeast of Gongliu County in the Ili region and is known as the kingdom of snow spruce. Here, high mountains are covered in snow and ice, while the slopes are densely forested with towering trees. The vast mountain ranges harbor endless expanses of spruce forests, situated at an altitude of around 1,500–2,000 meters and covering an area of 280 square kilometers. The spruces in the reserve conserve water resources, and the unique inversion layer climate also helps maintain complete types of original forest vegetation in the mountains, making this area a typical representation of the entire Tianshan forest ecosystem.
