Convergence Landform of the Tianshan and Kunlun Mountains
The Tianshan and Kunlun mountain ranges converge on the Pamir Plateau, where their meeting point features distinct geographical characteristics. Here, the Tianshan Mountains appear in a camel-colored hue, stretching from east to west and separating the Junggar and Tarim basins. As one of Asia’s major mountain systems, it has an average elevation of over 4,000 meters. The Kunlun Mountains, in this area, display a dark bluish tone, originating from the Pamir Plateau to the west, with an average elevation exceeding 5,500 meters. At this location, visitors can gaze upon both mountain ranges and stand where their territories meet, appreciating the unique grandeur of these world-class ranges. It offers a chance to experience the “Museum of Ten Thousand Mountains” and witness the dramatic forces of tectonic upheaval—a world-class natural wonder.
