The Hargaš Battery in Yakeairike Township, Shache

The Hargaš Battery Tourist Scenic Area, a national A-level attraction, is located 35 kilometers southwest of the county town. This battery was built by Qing troops in the third year of the Guangxu reign (1877) during their pursuit of the invading forces of Agubai. It is a historical witness to the battles between Qing soldiers and Agubai, as well as a watchtower of an ancient post station. The current site remains well-preserved.

The Yakairike Kuorule (Beacon Tower) is situated on the mountaintop in Kuorule Village, Yakairike Township, 35 kilometers away. Approximately 24.5 kilometers from the Qiaotieya Battery (on the mountain), there is a seven-meter-high, five-meter-wide earthen fortress. According to local lore, this fortress has stood here for over 500 years. Located in the eastern part of Yakairike Township (where 50 rooms once existed but have since been damaged), it is highly visible from afar and exudes an air of mystery. Prior to 1945, soldiers were stationed here. This site lies along the key transportation route to Pakistan and Afghanistan, a historic Silk Road checkpoint, and the mountain path also begins here, leading to the county town.
