Mukam Folk Custom Resort

The Mukam Folk Custom Resort is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Mukam Folk Custom Resort is located in Village 9 of Yigai’erqi Town, Shache County, 18 kilometers from the county seat of Shache. It lies at the center of four counties in northern Kashgar Prefecture: Yecheng, Zepu, Shache, and Maigaiti.

The resort is developed around the Yigai’erqi Reservoir, which is the earliest plain reservoir built in Xinjiang after the founding of New China and has a history of 50 years. The reservoir area covers a total of 21.98 square kilometers, with a current maximum storage capacity of 0.45 billion cubic meters and a dead storage capacity of 0.1 billion cubic meters. The maximum water depth reaches 4 meters. The reservoir is surrounded by vast deserts, where the sea of sand and water create a stunning natural landscape. Adjacent to the reservoir is Karasu Township, the hometown of Mukam master Amanisha Khan. The ethnic minorities living here are known for their singing and dancing, especially the Twelve Mukam, which is rich in ethnic characteristics. In recent years, through development by Kashgar Yeh River Tourism Company, the Yigai’erqi Reservoir has evolved into a tourist resort integrating dining, entertainment, folk performances, and leisure vacation.
