Ruins of an Ancient Beacon Tower from the Tang Dynasty
The ruins of the Tang Dynasty beacon tower are located south of Qiongtimu and north of Tokkuz Saray. The beacons are aligned in a line at intervals of 5 to 10 li, all newly discovered in late 1983 by the Comprehensive Cultural Relics and Archaeology Survey Team of Key Counties in Southern Xinjiang. The types of relics found are consistent with those at Qiongtimu, and archaeologists have identified these sites as Tang Dynasty beacon tower ruins. Both Qiongtimu and these beacon tower sites were part of the station and defense structures along the ancient Silk Road between the Xuanhun River (now the Aksu River) and the city of Jushi.
