The Bachu Earthquake Memorial Hall serves as a patriotic education base.

The Bachu Earthquake Memorial Hall is located in Qiongkuerqiake Township, Bachu County, covering an area of 3,526 square meters with a construction area of 569.84 square meters. It consists of five parts: the collapsed water tower (actual site), memorial monument, relief sculptures, exhibition hall, and lecture hall.

The memorial hall vividly recreates the devastating scenes of the February 24, 2003 Bachu earthquake and the heroic efforts of people of all ethnicities who fearlessly faced adversity, overcame numerous challenges, and fought bravely. It also authentically showcases the heartfelt care and genuine support extended to the affected communities by the Party Central Committee, the State Council, the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region, the Xinjiang Military Command, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as various sectors of society. The establishment of the memorial is of great significance in further promoting the great spirit of earthquake relief—“unity, fearlessness in the face of danger, mutual aid in times of need, solidarity and dedication, courage and victory”—and in strengthening ethnic unity, military-civilian unity, police-civilian unity, and the unity between military and local communities. It contributes to building a harmonious socialist society and creating a better life for people of all ethnicities.

Today, this memorial has become an important patriotic education base for people of all ethnicities in the region, especially for young people.
