The Majianleke Ruins

The Majianleke Ruins are a cultural tourism attraction.

Introduction: Majianleke, in the Uyghur language, means "a place with many beads." It is located on the first terrace of the western bank of the Keriya River in Hotan County, more than 230 kilometers south of today’s Yutian County seat in Xinjiang’s Hotan region. The terrain here is low-lying, surrounded by sand ridges that resemble the walls of a cauldron, with dense sand dunes in the center. Scattered across small exposed patches of sedimentary ground between the dunes are large quantities of ancient artifacts such as pottery shards, iron fragments, lacquer residues, glass beads, as well as burnt and unburnt animal bone fragments from cattle and sheep. The cultural layer of the ruins is only visible on the surface, with sparse accumulations and relatively few relics. Among them, there are 2,179 ironware items and approximately 33 pieces of pottery.
