Tomb of Imam Asim

The Tomb of Imam Asim is a cultural tourism attraction.

Introduction: Located in Mazhar Alidi, Tuowanjiayi Village, Cele Township, Hotan, the site is 4.5 kilometers directly from the county town, covering an area of 379.5 mu, with a length of 550 meters and a width of 460 meters. It is a historic, grand, and relatively well-preserved ancient monument. The main surviving structures include three major buildings: the Aitika Meqit Mosque, the Juma Meqit Mosque, and the Tomb of Imam Asim.

Legend has it that Imam Asim and the Islamic Prophet Muhammad were cousins. He died in battle in Shām (present-day Syria) in the eighth year of the Islamic calendar and is said to have flown to this location after his death. No body was found, only the tomb, hence the name Tomb of Imam Asim. It is believed to be around 1,400 years old.

This site serves as a place for Muslims to perform daily prayers, Friday prayers, and festival congregations. During Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, in addition to worshippers from various townships within the county, tens of thousands of people come from other counties.

Cele Township: I. Natural and Geographic Conditions

Cele Township is located on the southern edge of the Taklamakan Desert and the northern foothills of the Kunlun Mountains. It surrounds the county town of Cele, just 0.5 kilometers from the county center, with a total area of 3,195.1 square kilometers. The arable land area is 45,811 mu, with per capita arable land of 1.7 mu. The grain cultivation area is 28,050 mu, including 14,025 mu for wheat and 14,025 mu for corn (intercropped). The economic crop area is 4,800 mu, forested area is 19,125 mu, grassland is 4,500 mu, wasteland is 3,000 mu, and other areas cover 7,861 mu.
