Shengli Reservoir

The Shengli Reservoir in Qira County is located 45 kilometers along the local road from Qira County town to the south towards Qaha Township in Xinjiang. As a key water conservancy project in Qira County, the economic and social benefits of Shengli Reservoir are self-evident. The scenic area planning for the reservoir began during its initial construction phase.

The first phase of the Shengli Reservoir project involved the renovation of roads within the reservoir area. The reconstructed county and township asphalt roads in the reservoir area connect to the mountainous Qaha Township and four other surrounding townships to the south, and link to National Highway 315 to the north, providing direct access to the county town and Hotan City. This convenient transportation infrastructure laid a solid foundation for the future development of the Shengli Reservoir scenic area. The second phase implemented a soil and water conservation plan for the reservoir, leveling 100 acres of land within the reservoir area where a large number of walnut and poplar trees were planted. This effectively improved the ecological environment of the reservoir area, creating an oasis in the vast Gobi Desert. Visitors can enjoy the unique scenery of Xinjiang’s Gobi while also experiencing the beautiful landscape of an oasis in the desert.
