Introduction: The First Military Reclamation Company is located on the northern foothills of Hongshan, on the western bank of the Manas River within the territory of Shihezi. This was originally the site of a pioneering reclamation company from the 1950s, where remnants of that era such as cave dwellings, rammed-earth kitchens, and water storage ponds have been preserved. There are also farming tools and daily items from the reclamation period, including wooden-wheeled ox carts, wooden plows, and stone mills. From 2002 to 2003, the 152nd Regiment of the Eighth Agricultural Division invested over 3 million yuan to build a participatory tourist attraction on the original site. It includes a colorful gate in the shape of the “First Military Reclamation Plow,” military reclamation cave dwellings, a threshing ground, a shooting range, and a ski slope — collectively known as the “First Military Reclamation Company.”

This site serves not only as a leisure and holiday destination but also as a base for patriotic education and national defense education. It is an excellent place to promote the spirit of Shihezi, the spirit of the Production and Construction Corps, and the spirit of military reclamation. Visitors here can not only experience the hardships faced by the pioneers 50 years ago but also feel a strong sense of contrast with modern life.
