Xicheng Flat Peach Garden

Introduction: Known as the "Hometown of Flat Peaches," the Flat Peach Garden is located 15 kilometers from Shihezi in the headquarters of the 143rd Regiment, situated south of the Wu-Yi Highway and west of the Shi-Nan Highway.

The Flat Peach Garden was first established in 1956 by graduates of the Corps Agricultural College who were assigned to the regiment. They introduced the first batch of tree species from Manas, cultivating a planting area of over 1,000 acres, making it the earliest and largest state-owned peach orchard in northern Xinjiang. It yielded 1.1 million kilograms of fruit annually, supplying the needs of the region. During the Cultural Revolution, the orchard suffered severe damage. After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee, experienced fruit farmers became the first specialized peach growers, and the orchard gradually flourished.

Today, the Flat Peach Garden of the 2nd Battalion of the 143rd Regiment has reached a considerable scale, with nearly 400 acres of land contracted out to fruit farmers in sections. They continuously cultivate superior varieties, manage scientifically, and properly thin flowers and branches, resulting in flat peaches that are brightly colored, sweet and tangy in perfect balance, with soft yet crisp flesh — a uniquely delicious flavor. In late summer and early autumn, stepping into the peach garden feels like entering a fairyland.
