Recreation Square

Recreation Square is located in the city center of Shihezi, directly south of the First Building of Shihezi Reclamation. It is a beautiful square bursting with colorful blooms and lush greenery. At the northern entrance, there are three lawns enclosed by daisy-like chrysanthemum hedges, each featuring nine emerald-green red-skin spruces arranged to form a green plum blossom. The silver high mast lamps nearby that reach toward the sky add a touch of brilliance to the square at night.

As you step into the square, the first thing that catches your eye is the glistening, joyfully dancing fountain. Located at the intersection of the east-west and north-south axes, it is the most captivating sight in the square. The fountain has a six-petal flower shape, with 106 nozzles. In the very center, a group of nozzles is arranged in three tiers—the highest tier sprays water nearly 20 meters into the air, creating an impressive and majestic water column. The smaller surrounding fountains spray water in various shapes, complementing the grandeur of the central feature and adding a unique charm.

On the southern side of the square stands the bronze statue of General –, offering a glimpse of the general’s visionary spirit as he surveyed the land on horseback and imagined the new city. On the eastern and western sides of the square are two sets of group sculptures: the “New Frontier Symphony Group Sculpture” on the east and the “First Plow of Reclamation Group Sculpture” on the west, forming a triangular arrangement with the bronze statue of General –, together creating a distinctive sculptural landmark of the reclamation new city. Scattered around these statues are over 30 tree and flower stands of varying sizes, blending rich colors and lush greenery, making it a truly enchanting place to linger.
