Shihhotze Guanyin Mountain is located about 70 kilometers north of Shihhotze City, within the Ziniquan Breeding Sheep Farm of the 151st Regiment, Eighth Agricultural Division. It was once renowned for breeding the famous "Chinese Merino Junken-type" fine-wool sheep. A scientist from the Chinese Academy of Sciences also resides here. This grassland lies in the transitional zone between the mountain forest belt and the mountain meadow steppe belt. To the south are the Tianshan Ilianhabigar Mountains, at the foot of which lies the magnificent Manas River Gorge. The area ranges in elevation from 1,500 to 2,400 meters. In early spring, the lush alpine soda grass and the undulating red cliffs create a striking contrast of red and green, offering a colorful landscape.
