Western Region Military Reclamation

Western Region Military Reclamation is located on the northern foothills of Hongshan, on the west bank of the Manas River within Shihezi. It was originally the site of land reclamation teams in the 1950s and preserves military reclamation relics from that era, including cave dwellings, rammed-earth kitchens, and water storage ponds. There are also reclamation tools and daily necessities such as wooden-wheeled ox carts, wooden plows, and stone mills. From 2002 to 2003, the 152nd Regiment of the Eighth Agricultural Division invested over 3 million yuan to build a participatory tourist attraction on the original site of the reclamation team. The site includes a colorful gate modeled after the First Plow of Military Reclamation, military reclamation cave dwellings, a threshing ground, a shooting range, a ski slope, and a cooperative, integrating dining, accommodation, recreation, leisure, vacation, sightseeing, and education.
