Shihezi Taoyuan Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The national AAA-level tourist scenic area, Taoyuan Tourist Area, is located 3 kilometers south of Huayuan Town and just 18 kilometers from Shihezi City. It can be directly reached by taking Bus No. 11 from Tuanjie Shopping Mall in the city. This place boasts outstanding people and a blessed land, with convenient access in all directions. Backed by the picturesque scenery of the Tianshan Mountains and fronted by a jade-like basin where the ever-flowing Tianyuan Stream converges at its center, it offers blooming spring flowers of rare beauty, golden autumn fruits, red and yellow hues in autumn, snow-covered landscapes of northern Xinjiang in winter, and the fragrance of lotus flowers in summer. With refreshing breezes, rippling lake waves, the charm of Jiangnan literature, and sacred fruits on shaded tables, Taoyuan is a tourist scenic area that integrates distinctive agriculture, folk culture, and Buddhist culture.

The Buddhist holy site "Guanyin Island of the Western Regions" is located within Taoyuan Tourist Area. This island sits against mountains and by the water, exuding the pleasant fragrance of peach blossoms, with beautiful scenery, birdsong, and floral scents — truly a heavenly paradise and a pure land beyond the mundane world.

Guanyin Island of the Western Regions houses numerous grand halls, arranged in an artful and well-spaced layout. It opened to the public in October 2009 and enshrines various Buddhas including Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, Maitreya Buddha, and Bhaisajyaguru Buddha, as well as various Bodhisattvas such as Guanyin Bodhisattva, Manjushri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Skanda Bodhisattva, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva.

The number of incense-offering visitors to Guanyin Island of the Western Regions is continuous and numerous. The island provides a comprehensive facility and service system for visitors, including guest rooms and scripture-reciting pavilions, and also offers vegetarian meals.
