Yuanming Temple

Yuanming Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Shenchi County.

Yuanming Temple is located 200 meters north of Dingjialiang Village, Longquan Town, Shenchi County. It faces east and covers an area of 3,000 square meters. According to the Shenchi County Annals, “It was founded in the 17th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1678) through donations collected by Taoist priest Miaochang, and was renovated in the 4th year of the Daoguang reign (1824).” The existing buildings are arranged in a two-courtyard complex. Along the central axis are six structures totaling 21 rooms: the Mountain Gate, the Zhenwu Hall, the Main Hall, the Rear Hall, and the East and West Side Halls. All have flush gable roofs topped with gray clay tiles. At the northwest corner of Yuanming Temple stands the Yuanming Temple Pagoda. In 1987, it was designated as a county-level cultural heritage site by the Shenchi County People’s Government.
