Dongdatan Reservoir Dongdatan Reservoir is situated on the Golden-Silver Grassland, 6 kilometers east of the county town. Completed in November 1981, it is the largest regulating reservoir in the Huangshui River basin. The dam cuts across the mouth of Muli Gully, while National Highway 315 and the Qinghai-Tibet Railway run alongside. The southern shore of the reservoir boasts a 1.2-kilometer-long, 50–80-meter-wide expanse of natural grassland. The reservoir’s surface shimmers with blue waves, while herds of cattle and sheep graze on the grasslands. Various waterfowl make their home along the reservoir year-round, offering city dwellers a refreshing sense of openness and tranquility.
