Cliff Carvings at Kuaitun Pass

The cliff carvings at Kuaitun Pass are a cultural relic protection site of Ningwu County.

The cliff carvings at Kuaitun Pass are located about 150 meters east of Kuaitun Guan Village, Huaibei Tun Township, Ningwu County. They sit on the cliff face beneath Zhongshan Pavilion along the Fen River, facing west. According to inscriptions on the carvings, they were created in the second year of the Yuandade era (1298). The surviving carvings cover an area of approximately 3 square meters. The carvings are divided into two groups, upper and lower. The upper group features three standing Buddha figures, each 0.2 meters tall and 0.13 meters wide. The lower group includes ten Buddha figures, each approximately 0.15 meters tall, 0.6 meters long, and 0.17 meters wide. Not far from the carvings is an inscription site, featuring both cliff engravings and ink-written records, though the text has become faded and blurred over time. In 1985, the Ningwu County People's Government designated these carvings as a county-level cultural relic protection site.
