Beitun Grottoes
The Beitun Grottoes are a cultural relic protection unit of Ningwu County.
The Beitun Grottoes are located on sandstone 200 meters south of Beitun Village, Beihuatun Township, Ningwu County. These are Yuan Dynasty stone carvings, with two grottoes remaining today. Grotto No. 1 faces east and is situated westward. Its entrance is rectangular, with carved niches and Buddha statues on both sides of the door. Inside, the grotto is rectangular, measuring 1.30 meters deep, 1 meter wide, and 1.5 meters high, with a domed ceiling. Stone Buddha statues are carved inside, although the heads of the statues have been damaged. Grotto No. 2 faces south and is situated northward. Its entrance is an arched opening, and the interior is square, measuring 1 meter on each side, housing Buddha statues. The statues are intact. In 1985, the Ningwu County People's Government designated it as a county-level cultural relic protection unit.
