Ningwu Yongqing Temple

Yongqing Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Ningwu County.

Yongqing Temple is located in Xigou Village, Dietai Temple Township, Ningwu County. It faces south and measures 22.1 meters east-west and 34.2 meters north-south, covering an area of 672 square meters. The exact date of its construction is unknown, but the existing structure dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

The temple has a single-courtyard layout, with the main hall serving as the Guan Yu Temple. The hall features three bays in width, four rafters in depth, and a single-eave hanging hip roof, with a statue of Guan Yu enshrined inside. The stage, named Yongqing Stage, also has three bays in width, four rafters in depth, and a single-eave gable and hip roof. The stage’s beams feature camel humps, while its eaves are adorned with three-tiered bracket sets and color paintings. The ceiling paintings depict traditional opera scenes, including one inscribed with the characters “Built in the 12th Year of Tongzhi (1862)”. There are two circular windows on the back wall of the stage. According to inscriptions, the stage was built during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1736–1795) and renovated in the first year of the Tongzhi era (1862). The original bell and drum towers in the temple have since been destroyed. In 1984, the Ningwu County People’s Government designated it as a county-level cultural heritage site.
