Xigou Yipin Courtyard

Xigou Yipin Courtyard is located in Xigou Village, Dietaisi Township, Ningwu County. It faces south and measures 17 meters east-west and 41 meters north-south, covering an area of approximately 710 square meters. It is a Qing Dynasty structure.

The existing layout consists of a two-courtyard complex with nine buildings in total: the front courtyard includes three northern rooms, three southern rooms, and three rooms on each of the eastern and western sides, with carved hanging panels under the eaves of the southern rooms. The main building in the rear courtyard has five rooms, with three rooms on each of the eastern and western sides. On either side of the main building between the front and rear courtyards, there are three rooms on each of the eastern and western sides. The gate is of the hanging-hip roof style, featuring a single-eave Dougong bracket set with seven “rises.” The interior follows a symmetrical layout, with the main building situated along the central axis. The wood carvings are exquisitely crafted, and the walls are inscribed with poetic verses.

Xigou Yipin Courtyard is one of the residences of the Hou family. Historical records indicate that members of the Hou family held official ranks up to the second tier, with some women in the family conferred the honorific title of “Second-Rank Lady,” and the family also produced generals and officials of the sixth rank. Xigou Yipin Courtyard is one of the more intact and sizable residential complexes preserved in Ningwu County.
