Yunxian Manwan Hundred-Mile Long Lake Scenic Area

The Yunxian Manwan Hundred-Mile Long Lake Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

The Lancang River flows over 200 kilometers through Lincang. Along this stretch, three large hydropower stations—Manwan, Dachaoshan, and Xiaowan—each with a capacity of one million kilowatts (featuring Asia’s highest dam), have been built. These three power stations form the majestic and spectacular sight of the Lancang River’s high-gorge hundred-mile long lake. The lake surface is calm and beautiful, dotted with peninsulas in the bays, while the mountains on both banks are picturesque, towering, and steep, home to a rich diversity of rare animals, creating a landscape that is like poetry and painting. Along the shoreline are distributed a series of attractions including the Lancang River Grand Canyon, Yunhai Mountain Villa, the Manghuai and Manzhi Neolithic Sites, Chaoshan Temple, the ruins of the Yunnan-Burma Railway, ethnic culture villages, and power station landscapes. High mountains and gorges, river waters and lake bays, power station dams, and historical sites are all connected along the Lancang River, forming a multifunctional tourism belt that integrates industrial tours, historical and cultural exploration, adventure sightseeing, water recreation, eco-tourism, folk tourism, and leisure vacations. It fills a gap in Yunnan Province’s hydroelectric industrial tourism and has thus been hailed as “Asia’s most distinctive hydropower base.”
