Sihangli Wa Ethnic Village

Sihangli is an ancient legend passed down among the Wa people. "Si" means cliff cave, and "gang" means to come out. Sihangli refers to emerging from a rock cave. The specific geographical location is near Myanmar's Rock City across the Nanxi River in Yuesong Township, Ximeng County, in an area called Bagudai. The general outline of the Sihangli historical legend is that in ancient times, humans were trapped in a sealed mountain cliff cave and could not get out. The omnipotent deity, Mowei, sent a little bird to peck open the cave.

A mouse lured away the tiger that guarded the cave entrance and bit people, while a spider outwitted the large tree that prevented people from exiting the cave. Thus, humans were able to leave the cave. They settled and thrived in various places. This is the general meaning of Sihangli.
