The Wujian River Gorge Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Wujian River Gorge Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Yanhe Autonomous County, Guizhou, is situated on the northeastern edge slope where the Guizhou Plateau transitions into the hills of western Hunan and the Sichuan Basin. It lies in the interlaced zone between the southeastern foothills of the Dalou Mountains and the northwestern foothills of the Wuling Mountains. The Wujiang River enters the area from Jiasi Town at the southwestern corner of Yanhe Autonomous County, flows through 13 townships including Heping, and reaches the Xiaopangtan area of Sujia Village in Hongdu Town before entering Chongqing Municipality. The total length of the river section is 132 kilometers, covering an area of 102.2 square kilometers. The scenic area is centered around the “Hundred-Mile Gallery of the Wujiang River,” interconnected by natural and cultural landscapes. Approximately 70% of the reservoir area of the Pengshui Hydropower Station in Chongqing, which has already been completed, lies within Yanhe County. Coupled with the upcoming completion of the Shatuo Hydropower Station on the Wujiang River, it has formed the captivating landscape of “a serene lake amid mountain gorges and canyon scenery.”

The Wujian River Gorge Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Yanhe Autonomous County boasts unique resources. Its karst landform offers exceptionally beautiful natural landscapes, while the long-standing Tujia culture and rich, simple ethnic customs endow it with distinctive sightseeing and scientific-cultural value, as well as significant social impact.
