Zhaisa Dong Village

Zhaisa Dong Village is a Dong ethnic village at the foot of Mount Fanjing, located by the Taiping River. The Taiping River flows in front of the village, with ancient trees towering along the riverbank, and green trees and mountains stretching out behind. Crossing a wind-and-rain bridge over the Taiping River takes you to the scenic gate of the Dong village, making you feel as if you have entered an old-fashioned, primitive Jiangnan town. This hidden Dong world, tucked away in dense greenery, unfolds before your eyes like a mirage. Strolling along the winding bluestone path, after just a hundred steps, the view suddenly opens up to a circular plaza that fans out like a peacock’s tail. In one corner of the plaza stands the iconic structure of the Dong village — the drum tower. At night, the drum tower glows with colorful lights, and the red lanterns throughout the village shine brightly, creating a truly beautiful scene.

Zhaisa Dong Village is situated by the Taiping River at the foot of Mount Fanjing, 26 kilometers from the county seat. It is a natural Dong ethnic settlement in Jiangkou County. The area boasts beautiful natural scenery and rich Dong ethnic culture, particularly the distinctive ethnic charm reflected in the Dong traditional houses, making it a stunning highlight under Mount Fanjing. “June 6th” is an important festival for them. Every year on this day at dawn, villagers carry offerings to the deep mountains near the village to worship heaven and earth, shouting loudly in a custom known as “calling out to the mountains,” believed to ward off disasters and misfortune. They then return to the village for celebration, sharing a communal dinner, followed by singing mountain songs and dancing with joy. As an ethnic minority village at the foot of Mount Fanjing, Zhaisa Dong Village has been integrated into the tourism and cultural development of Mount Fanjing. Harmonizing beautifully with the mountain's picturesque natural scenery, it exudes a uniquely captivating charm rooted in its profound ethnic culture.
