Also known as Baofu Cliff, Yunfeng Temple is located in the heart of Mianshan Mountain. Originally called Baofu Temple, it was built by imperial decree during the Zhenguan era (627–649) of the Tang Dynasty, renovated in the 11th year of the Zhengde reign (1516) of the Ming Dynasty, and underwent multiple repairs during the Qing Dynasty.

The surviving ancient buildings include the King Kong Hall, Thousand Buddha Hall, Jie Tui Shrine, Five Dragons Hall, Mingwang Hall, Maming Hall, Arhat Hall, Eye-Gazing Bodhisattva Hall, as well as nearly a hundred rooms such as monks’ quarters and guesthouses. The temple houses over 70 exquisitely crafted colored clay sculptures from various dynasties, including three relic-in-body statues.

The temple structures are divided into upper and lower levels along the terrain, facing different directions and varying in height. The higher areas are all connected by suspended cliffside paths that link the various halls.
