Footprint Pavilion

Jie Zitui is the only historical figure in both ancient and modern times, across China and the world, to be commemorated by a mountain, a county, a festival, and a custom. The Jiegong Ridge Scenic Area, centered around Jiegong Ridge — the hermitage of Jie Zitui — is part of the Jiexiu tourist region in Shanxi Province. Key attractions include: the Wailing Slope, Mianshan Stele Forest, Immortal Stone Forest, One-Palm Mountain, Calligraphy Rock, Mother-and-Son Rocks, Lotus Leaf Spring, White Crow Mountain, Wishful Spring, Fish-Turtle Mountain, Fire-Sheltering Cave, Sipai Terrace, Footprint Pavilion, Jiegong Ridge, Cypress Ridge, Jie Gong’s Tomb, and the God-Awe-Inspiring Rock, among others. Fish-Turtle Mountain, homophonous with the phrase “returned home,” is said to be the place where Jie Zitui chose to live in seclusion.
