Wenshu Monastery Lane is located within the Wenshu Monastery Historical and Cultural Preservation Zone, just a wall away from the thousand-year-old Wenshu Monastery. The “Chengdu Temple Street” of Wenshu Monastery Lane lies along Wenshu Monastery Street and Wuyue Palace Street. Heading east, you can reach this tranquil spot in the bustling city—“Wenshu Monastery Lane”—by passing through Jiangyuan Public Office Street and West Zhushiji Street from Caoshi Street; heading west, you can get there by going through Wenshu Monastery Street from Renmin Middle Road.

Different from Nan-temple, Shanghai’s Yu Garden, and Kunshan’s Zhouzhuang, as well as “pure” historical and cultural tourism spots such as Wuhou Shrine and Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Wenshu Monastery Lane—as a restoration blueprint of the “Wenshu Monastery Block”—leverages its geographic and environmental advantages. By recreating the architectural features of western Sichuan, restoring the traditional street style, and reviving the leisurely culture of the region, it has been developed into the “No. 1 Urban Leisure Tourism Street.”

The blue tiles and white walls, carved wooden windows, upturned eaves and hanging pillars, painted ridge beams and door lintels, bracket arms in the passageways, eave corridors in the main halls, and pendant ornaments in the central bays of Wenshu Monastery Lane bear the traces of time. The bluestone, ancient trees, and courtyards preserve memories of days gone by. Windmill toys, clay figurine sculpting, and candied rice pancake making—these age-old folk arts have evoked fond memories in many, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of the people. Here, you can experience firsthand the making of traditional crafts like Shu embroidery and savor uniquely flavorful Chengdu street snacks. The Li Boqing Academy, located in Wenshu Monastery Lane, has officially opened its doors. Here, you can not only enjoy the comic storytelling performances but also watch traditional folk art shows.
