The Chengdu Painting Academy Calligraphy and Painting Museum is located at No. 59 Zhijishi Street, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, within the premises of the Chengdu Painting Academy. The academy itself covers an area of 2,331 square meters and features a traditional Siheyuan (courtyard) residence of Western Sichuan style with a “three-courtyard” layout. In June 2007, the residential architecture of the Chengdu Painting Academy was approved as a “Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.” In January 2008, the protection and renovation project of the academy’s residential buildings was completed. The museum occupies an area of 2,331 square meters, including a dedicated exhibition space of 1,547 square meters, storage rooms of 80 square meters, technical protection facilities of 100 square meters, and office areas of 100 square meters. The overall exhibition and visiting environment is serene and elegant, designed as a garden-style open venue. The museum has collected a total of 1,566 pieces of calligraphy and painting works, including pieces by renowned artists such as Zhang Daqian, with a total market value approaching 100 million yuan. These collections not only preserve and enhance the value of state-owned assets, but also elevate the artistic taste and influence of the Chengdu Painting Academy Calligraphy and Painting Museum. They provide an important foundation for the academy to conduct academic research, exchanges, and exhibitions. The architectural design of the Chengdu Painting Academy Calligraphy and Painting Museum follows the traditional “three-courtyard” Siheyuan layout. Inside the museum, functional zones are clearly divided and circulation routes are well organized. The front and middle courtyards mainly serve as open exhibition and educational areas, while the rear courtyard houses the painting storage rooms and administrative offices. The exhibition areas and other auxiliary functional spaces do not interfere with each other, fully reflecting the historical and cultural characteristics of Chengdu. The design is creative yet practical, with a simple and efficient visitor flow.
