Zhandao Shenglu Valley Scenic Area

The Zhandao Shenglu Valley Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Zhenzhandao Shenglu Valley Ecological Tourism Area is located in Zhandao Township, Shiqu County, Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Covering an area of 53.24 square kilometers, it borders Yushu Prefecture of Qinghai Province to the west and lies at the junction of Qinghai and Sichuan provinces. It is here that the Tongtian River becomes the Jinsha River.

The scenic area is located within the experimental zone of the Sichuan Luoxu Nature Reserve. According to statistics, the population of white-lipped deer in the reserve ranges between 11,411 and 13,693 individuals, with a population density of 7.35 to 8.81 individuals per km². This makes it one of the regions with the largest population and highest density of white-lipped deer in the world. The reserve also hosts a large number of rare wild animals, including 16 species of Class I nationally protected animals and 34 species of Class II nationally protected animals. In September 2017, forest rangers discovered three snow leopard cubs in the scenic area, causing a sensation.

The Shenglu Valley Scenic Area is located within the trial zone of the Sichuan Luoxu Nature Reserve. According to statistics, the population of white-lipped deer in the reserve ranges between 11,411 and 13,693 individuals, with a population density of 7.35 to 8.81 individuals per square kilometer (Wu Jiayan and Wang Wei, 1999), which is close to the national average density level of white-lipped deer. This makes it an area with a large population and high density of white-lipped deer. The reserve also contains numerous rare and precious wild animals, including 16 species of Class I nationally protected animals and 34 species of Class II nationally protected animals.

In addition, the national intangible cultural heritage Zhandao Guozhuang dance originates from Zhandao Township and has a history of over a hundred years. It reflects the life of the people of Shiqu in a high-altitude, cold environment.

In the western Sichuan plateau lies a precious treasure—Zhandao Township in Shiqu County. The century-old Zhandao Guozhuang dance brings a distinctive Tibetan charm to this high-altitude land, while its rich religious culture remains pure despite the passage of time.
