Ming Dynasty Immigration Site (Third Batch of Provincial-Level Protected Sites)

Period: Ming Dynasty

Location: Within the Ancient Big Locust Tree Park, west of Jia Village, on the northern outskirts of Hongtong County

It is a set of commemorative structures marking the large-scale, long-term, and widespread immigration history during the Hongwu and Yongle eras of the Ming Dynasty.

The stele pavilion is located at the site of the original ancient Han locust tree, facing south with a single-eave hip-and-gable roof, covered with tubular and plain tiles. Inside the pavilion stands a stele, 3.5 meters high, 0.8 meters wide, and 0.3 meters thick. The top of the stele features a coiled dragon carving, with the character “Commemoration” engraved in the center. The front of the stele bears five large clerical script characters reading “Ancient Site of the Big Locust Tree,” while the back of the stele features an inscription summarizing the history of the early Ming Dynasty’s migration efforts. Behind the pavilion, atop the kiln roof, stands a stone pagoda from the fifth year of the Cheng’an era of the Jin Dynasty (1200 AD), the only remaining relic of the Guangji Temple.
