Introduction to Panzhihua Wangyuelou Traveling along the Chengdu-Kunming Railway through Miyi’s Guabang Township, look westward from your train window through the lush greenery, and you’ll spot a striking red pavilion standing gracefully amid the foliage — this is Wangyuelou, a provincial-level cultural heritage site in Panzhihua City.

The pavilion is built with a wooden mortise-and-tenon structure, featuring a square base and two upper hexagonal floors, all topped with a hexagonal spire that ties the whole structure together sturdily and elegantly. Despite enduring two hundred years of weathering and three major earthquakes in the 3rd, 10th, and 13th years of the Daoguang reign, it has survived intact — a truly remarkable feat. As an early example of Islamic architecture in the region, it not only holds the value of a religious relic but also stands out among local Islamic buildings due to its unique design, ingenious conception, and multi-functional use of a single floor. For these reasons, it also carries significant artistic and architectural heritage value.
