National Canoeing Base

The Miyi County National Canoe Slalom Training Base is located in the Lizitan area in the northern part of Miyi County, adjacent to the waterfront landscape project downstream in the urban area. Designed and built to world-class competition standards, the race course is 310 meters long with a drop of 7 meters. The area enjoys abundant sunshine and an average annual temperature of 19°C, with warm winters and springs, cool summers and autumns, and a frost-free period of 336 days throughout the year, making it an ideal location for winter water sports. The base also features complete facilities and excellent services, capable of hosting major domestic and international competitions, integrating sports, leisure, and tourism.

In 2004, the base was designated by the Sports Department of the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee as an official training venue for the 2008 Olympics, and simultaneously recognized by the General Administration of Sport of China as the national canoe slalom winter training base. It is currently China’s only canoe slalom winter training base. Located in the northern new district of Miyi, the base is just 1 kilometer from the urban area and can be reached by taxi within the city for just 2 yuan.
