Jinkouhe Railway Engineer Corps Museum

The Railway Engineer Corps Museum is currently the only museum in China dedicated to revolutionary tradition education with the Railway Engineer Corps as its commemorative theme. The museum layout is divided into two areas: the main exhibition hall and the Chengdu-Kunming Railway Monument Square, covering an area of over 10 acres. The main exhibition hall of the museum broke ground in March 2011, with the main structure completed in December and officially opened to the public on June 28, 2012. Above the gate stands the museum name “Railway Engineer Corps Museum” in six large characters, personally inscribed in March 2008 in Beijing by Lü Zhengcao, founding General and former Political Commissar of the Railway Engineer Corps.

The main exhibition hall of the museum covers nearly 1,000 square meters and is divided into four thematic sections: “Leadership Care and Inspiration,” “Amidst Gunfire and Bullets, Achieving Merit on the Battlefield,” “Carving Through Mountains and Building Roads, Outstanding Contributions,” and “Never Forget, Forging Ahead.” It currently preserves over 150 precious historical photographs and more than 500 cultural relics, including production tools, daily necessities, books, badges, and video materials. Through films, images, physical objects, replicas, and other forms, it comprehensively outlines the glorious journey of the Railway Engineer Corps—from the Liberation War and the Korean War to the Vietnam War, and through peacetime. The purpose of building the museum is to commemorate the now-disbanded Railway Engineer Corps, which made remarkable contributions to China’s railway construction history, to inherit and carry forward the spirit of hard work and tenacity of the Railway Engineer Corps, to effectively enhance the visibility and cultural richness of the Grand Canyon scenic area, and to erect a monument and establish a museum for the heroic Railway Engineer Corps for future generations to admire.
