Bifeng Mountain, also known as Erlang Mountain, is located to the south of Qinxian County. Its main peak stands at an elevation of 1,028 meters, featuring undulating peaks and lush forests, crisscrossed valleys, and a majestic landscape. The mountain earned the name Bifeng (Pen Peak) due to its height above the county town and its direct alignment with the Lingxing Gate of the old Confucian school in Qinzhou, symbolizing culture and civilization. It is also called Erlang Mountain because of the legend of “Erlang Shouldering Mountains to Chase the Sun.” The scenic area includes China’s largest private stone carving exhibition hall—the Nanie Water Stone Carving Exhibition Hall, the Vanguard Monument in Defense of Chairman Mao, Yongqing Temple, the Shanxi Sacrificial Alliance and Decisive Death Squad Memorial Hall, the Shanxi Sacrificial Alliance and Decisive Death Squad Memorial Forest, Erlang Mountain Forest Park, and the Qing Dynasty Kangxi Emperor’s Imperial Calligraphy Pavilion. The Zhang River flows from north to south around the mountain, with West Lake lying at its foot. The beautiful Qinxian County town is situated by West Lake. Bifeng Mountain and West Lake complement each other, offering picturesque lake and mountain views, verdant pine trees, winding paths, corridors, towers, and pavilions—making it a truly exceptional tourist destination.
