Daxue Mountain is located in Daxueshan Town, Yunlian County, with its main peak at an elevation of 1,777.2 meters, home to a variety of wild animals. The frequent sightings of wildlife, along with numerous legends, have shrouded Daxue Mountain in an air of mystery.

With over 3,000 hectares of primeval forests and wetlands, Daxue Mountain has retained much of its original ecology, making it highly valuable for tourism and sightseeing. Moreover, Daxue Mountain was once one of the main areas of activity for the Red Army guerrillas in southern Sichuan, leaving behind precious revolutionary historical relics of red culture.

Daxue Mountain is also home to the dove tree (Davidia involucrata), a plant under first-class national protection. Known as a “living fossil” of the plant kingdom, this rare ancient species, like the giant panda, is one of the few that miraculously survived from ancient times and now exists only in China. These dove trees are widely distributed across Daxue Mountain, commonly seen along mountain slopes and beside streams. The dove tree’s white flowers resemble doves in shape, hence its nickname “dove flower.” Every April and May when the flowers bloom, the mountainsides come alive with the sight of these “dancing doves” swaying in the mountain breeze—a truly spectacular scene.

Daxueshan Town: Daxueshan Town is located in the southern part of Yunlian County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province, about 50 kilometers from the county seat and 140 kilometers from Yibin City. It was formed in late 2006 through the administrative restructuring and merger of the former Jiefang Township and Luomurou Town, and now governs 22 villages and 1 community, covering an area of 104.6 square kilometers. As of May 12, 2009, the town had a total population of over 24,000. The road from the county seat to the town government is paved with cement.
