Shuanghe Confucius Temple

Shuanghe Confucius Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Sichuan Province.

Shuanghe Confucius Temple is situated within Shuanghe Primary School in Shuanghe Community, Shuanghe Town, Changning County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province, with a construction area of about 350 square meters. It was initially built in the Song Dynasty, and the current structure was rebuilt in the first year of the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1851). The temple faces southeast from the northwest and sits on a plain stone platform base. It is five bays wide (22 meters) and 15.8 meters deep, with an overall height of 6.7 meters. The building features a post-and-lintel structure and a double-eave hip-and-gable roof made of wood, covered with yellow glazed tiles trimmed with green edges. The main ridge beam bears an inscription reading “Reconstructed on the tenth day of the third lunar month in the first year of the Xianfeng reign (1851) at the hour of Chen.” The dougong brackets of the main hall are exquisitely carved, and the column bases come in hexagonal and drum-shaped designs, all intricately sculpted from bluestone. The carvings depict dragons, flowers, plants, swastika patterns, the character “Fu” (blessing), and scrolling vine motifs. The largest column base stands 0.6 meters high and has a diameter of 1 meter, featuring an elaborately carved scene of two dragons playing with water, displaying fine craftsmanship and vivid form. This main hall is the only remaining structure of the former county seat’s Confucius Temple in Changning, holding significant value for the study of official Qing Dynasty architecture and educational institutions. In 2011, Shuanghe Confucius Temple was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit by the Yibin Municipal People's Government.

Protected area: extending southeast to the playground of Shuanghe Primary School, southwest to the school buildings, northeast to the school buildings, and northwest to the school wall.

Construction control zone: extending 5 meters outward from the protected area on the southwest, northeast, and northwest sides, and southeast to the campus wall.
