Hometown of Hongmo is a national 3A-level tourist attraction, located in Changning County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province.

In the ninth year of the Zhengtong era (1444), Zhou Hongmo took the Sichuan provincial examination and ranked first as the Jieyuan (the top scholar). The following year, he achieved the second place in the imperial examination's top tier (Jinshi Yijia) and was appointed as a Hanlin editor. Zhou Hongmo was well-read, had a passion for literature, was familiar with the historical traditions of the state, and enjoyed discussing statecraft.

In the first year of the Jingtai era (1450), he submitted a memorial advising the emperor to “personally attend the imperial lectures and diligently govern the state.” He further presented twelve proposals on current affairs. In the third year of Jingtai (1452), he was selected as a tutor for the crown prince of the Eastern Palace, promoted to Left Attendant of the Left Spring Hall (Zuochunfang Zuozanshan), while still serving as an editor. After completing the compilation of the Huanyu Tongzhi (Comprehensive Gazetteer of the World), he was promoted to Reader-in-Waiting.
