Former Residence of Li Shuoxun

The former residence of Li Shuoxun is a Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a classic red tourism attraction, and a patriotic education base.

The former residence of Li Shuoxun is located on Commercial Street in Qingfu Town, Gao County. It is a wooden, post-and-lintel style single-story house, covering a land area of 512 m² and a building area of 370 m². The left side of the residence faces the street, where there stands a majestic and rustic ancient stone memorial archway, with a shiny, mirror-like bluestone-paved street in front. The residence was restored in September 1994 and consists of 11 rooms of various sizes, divided into five parts: the main hall, memorial hall, living room, bedroom, and study.

Since its opening in 1994, the residence has received batches after batches of leaders from the central, provincial, municipal, and county levels, as well as visitors from all over who came to pay their respects, totaling 100,000 people. It has now been approved as a municipal-level "Patriotic Education Base" and a key cultural relics protection unit. In 1996, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit by the People's Government of Sichuan Province.

Protected area: to the east up to the residence of Wu Jiayou, to the south up to the outer wall of the back garden and the residences of Wang Yunzhong, Wang Yunde, and Wang Juncheng, to the west up to the boundary between the memorial archway and the residence of Li Kaixin, to the north up to the street surface and the fence of the affiliated primary school.

Li Shuoxun (1903–1931), from Gao County, Sichuan Province, was born on February 23, 1903, in Qingfu County, Sichuan Province (now Gao County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province). He was one of the pioneers of the Chinese Communist Party who was involved in leading military struggles in the early years. In 1926, he married Zhao Juntao in Shanghai. In May 1928, he went to Hangzhou and once served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee and acting secretary of the Provincial Committee. In June 1931, he was appointed Secretary of the Military Commission of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. Sent by the Party, he came to Hainan to guide armed struggle.
