The Ma'erdong Stone Path site is located in Ren'ai, Wenjiang Town, Gao County, about 17 kilometers from the county seat of Gao County.

In July–August 1935, after regrouping, the Guerrilla Column of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in the Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou Border Area entered areas such as Zantan and Ren'ai in Gao County from Hengfeng in Gong County. They targeted local tyrants, propagated the policies and missions of the Red Army and the Party, and held meetings with the poor wherever they went, posting slogans, cutting down the telegraph poles of the Gao County government, and severing the authorities’ telephone communications. The Red Army fought bravely and strictly observed discipline, leaving a deep impression on the hardworking people of Gao County.

The Ma'erdong Stone Path is a mountain trail surrounded by hills on three sides and a cliff on one. It was once used by the Red Army guerrillas of southern Sichuan. Most of the stone slabs remain, but due to the construction of rural roads, few pedestrians use it—nowadays, only local farmers tending crops pass through.
