Luzhou Dan Mountain

The Dan Mountain Scenic Area is situated in Xuyong County, approximately 114 kilometers south of Luzhou City. It is composed of several dispersed scenic spots, spanning an area of more than 200 square kilometers. The area features rich cultural attractions and stunning natural vistas, including winding streams, lush forests and bamboo stands, as well as the widespread prehistoric plant Alsophila spinulosa. The Danxia landforms and karst landscapes combine to form a uniquely unique scenic region.

The provincial-level Dan Mountain Scenic Spot, located 16 kilometers east of Xuyong County’s urban area, is famed for its majestic Danxia landforms, rugged peaks, Taoist temples of the Suishan sect of Quanzhen Taoism dating back to the Song Dynasty, and ancient ethnic totems from southern Sichuan. The area is covered with dense forests and towering ancient trees; crystal-clear streams wind through the woods while waterfalls cascade down the cliffs. There are also inscriptions by famous figures, along with sea of clouds, shimmering light, sunrise and sunset views, and mist-covered frost in perilous areas, all contributing to a diverse and colorful natural landscape. It has become a renowned summer retreat in southern Sichuan.
