Huagaoxi National Nature Reserve

Huagaoxi National Nature Reserve is a national-level nature reserve.

The Huagaoxi Natural Ecological Reserve is located in Xuyong County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, covering a total area of 224 square kilometers. Due to its high mountains and deep valleys, with strongly dissected landforms, it is almost free from external disturbances. It is the best-preserved evergreen broad-leaved primary forest belt at the same latitude (28°N) today, with nearly 2,000 species of higher plants discovered. In these rolling mountain valleys, tens of thousands of the nationally first-class rare and endangered plant species, Alsophila spinulosa (tree ferns), are hidden within this dense and secluded valley. In addition to the tree fern colonies, there are also pristine canyons where wild monkeys call, poetic waterfalls and flying springs, as well as a Ming Dynasty ancient town with simple local customs.
